Aerial Photographs

Imagery from various years can be found for all areas of Canada, with a variety of photographic scales ranging from 1/3 000 (large scale) to 1/50 000 (small scale). A large scale photo simply means that ground features are at a larger, more detailed size; whereas a small scale photo implies the opposite. Most of these photographs are monochrome (black and white), but some areas are available in colour.

For all requests pertaining to sites in Ontario, clients will be provided with all MNR photos that were typically produced during 1954/55, 1971/72 and 1978. In Northern Ontario, the dates of photos range from 1986-1992. In addition to these photos, a list of other aerial photos that are available through a commercial mapping company is provided, should you require more than the standard MNR photos.

For all requests pertaining to sites outside of Ontario, clients will be provided with a list of aerial photographs (variety of years & scales) from which they can select the aerials required. Please note that a $20Cdn search fee is applied to any aerial order in Canada, which will be credited to you should you purchase aerial photos.
